Sustainable Trips Nicaragua
Services provided
_ The purpose of my project is to offer tourists
unique travel experiences in Nicaragua.
Voluntourism
Nicaragua is the 2nd poorest country in the Americas and has great need for humanitarian aid. The country already has a decent range of non-governmental organizations from all over the world trying to deal with issues such as women’s rights, education, environmental degradation, poverty, violence, indigenous communities, kids working, etc.
The vision is that tourists will combine their holidays with some sort of social / environmental aid work. The idea behind is to help communities develop and that they eventually manage projects that are self-sustaining and can continue without foreign support.
Besides wanting to have fun, relax, do some sightseeing etc., the tourists get to “do something good” on the destination and get to see localities and realities that they wouldn’t be able to see in a typical and purely holiday vacation. They have the chance to have a positive impact in the world and learn from it while also doing tourism.
A strategy would be to partner with universities covering topics as development, international humanitarian efforts, including disaster relief, sustainable development, advocacy, and education.
