The
Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management offers a first class educational
program in the field of Tourism and Hotel Management. More than 2000 graduates
of the Institute run hotels and businesses of high repute in the hospitality
industry all over the world.
The Institute’s aim is to improve the students' practical and managerial skills to enable them to work in Management Positions in their home countries. Therefore their main focus lies on practical training as well as managerial and social skills.
The highly qualified and internationally experienced staff is the students’ guarantee to an academically well guided approach towards their professional career.

Structure
__ The Program is divided into 2 parts. A General Module and two elective
Special Modules (Hospitality Management or Tourism Management) which
offer specialization in either field.
On special seminars experts from the Industry are invited to present specific topics of the Industry to the students, for example: Aspects of Quality Management, Sustainable Tourism, Uniform System of Accounting, International Etiquette, Telephone Training, Presentation Techniques... Duration
_ The course starts in the
first week of October and lasts for 8 months.
At the end of the course students may undertake 3 months practical training in Austria. During this training the students get deep insight into the organization of an Austrian Tourism Business and can improve their practical knowledge, and as well as their German. General Module

Destination Management, Aspects of Sustainable
Tourism as well as Strategies for Tourism Organizations are very
important issues in the Tourism Industry. The change of customer expectations towards a Tourism Destination or
for example their changing behavior before and during their stay, have
deep impact on the Management and Marketing of a touristic region.

_ CONTENT.
The teachers training course is integrated into the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management's courses. This gives the participants the opportunity to experience the training program from student’s point of view, specialize in their subject of interest and at the same time focus on special teaching contents. THEORETICAL BACKGROUND During the eight-month ITH course additional subjects focussing on didactics and methodologies are offered. New trends in teaching, the use of eLearning, Problem Based Learning, as well as integrated project work are discussed. Individual assignments to elaborate on these theoretical backgrounds give the participants a practical approach and reinforce their skills to structure, summarize and present complex content. PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE Already during the course students get hands on practical experience. The first practical classes are held at ITH. Afterwards participants give lectures at the University of Applied Sciences as well as in the Salzburg Tourism Schools. In June participants hold classes in different high schools in Salzburg, which give them the chance to experience different types, organisation and management of schools. During their teaching practice the students are coached by ITH teachers as well as external pedagogic experts, giving them advice for preparation as well as feedback after completion of the lessons. |
